Travel: Arizona vs Australia
We’ve always wanted to travel through Australia’s outback. We did some travel to the Blue Mountains a few years ago but never made it further west.
We always wanted to check out the Uluru, a massive sandstone monolith in the Northern Territory that is also known as Ayers Rock. Located Central Australia, in the Uluru-Kata Tjuta National Park, Northern Territory. It’s a Sandstone monolith that is the visible part of a much larger formation, often called an "inselberg" or "mountain island". It is approximately 348 meters high and has a circumference of about 9.4 km. It’s a sacred site for the Aṉangu people, the Indigenous people of the area.
What’s kind of funny is we recently visited the giant crater of Meteor Crater Natural Landmark near Winslow, AZ not too far from Flagstaff, AZ.
(Odd fact: Meteor Crater is owned by the Barringer family through their company, the Barringer Crater Company. Despite being a National Natural Landmark, it is privately owned and operated, with an admission fee required to visit the site. The Barringer family has owned the land since their ancestor, Daniel Barringer, bought it in 1903 after hypothesizing it was a meteorite impact crater.)
Here’s what happened in Australia because of this impact 😉
