Where not to drill on a Sprinter Van

“…areas which should not be modified or changed due to safety and crash reasons Mercedes-Benz recommends not to drill into the marked areas. For further information please review the BEG.

Drilling must not take place:
The A and B-pillars
Mounting parts on the rear of the B-Pilar without harming he integrity of the structure is permitted
For Mounting of Partition Walls please use existing holes
In the upper or lower flange of the longitudinal framemember
In the vicinity of load application points (e.g. springbrackets)
In the vicinity of front axle or rear axle supporting points
In the vicinity of the airbags
Figure 2 shows where drilling into the longitudinal member is not allowed.
NOTE: Holes in the longitudinal frame member are the result of the production process and are not suitable for body mounting work. On no account may holes resulting from the production process be used, as this could damage the frame.
NOTE: Clearances for fuel filler necks, fuel tank lines and fuel lines must be maintained. Sharp edges of the upfit can impact the fuel integrity of the vehicle.
