Blacking out the rear Sprinter window area
The Mercedes Sprinter comes in many different configurations. For outfitters like Sportsmobile starting with an empty cargo van, or also considered ‘a blank canvas’, and allows you to cut and add aftermarket windows that actually open unlike the fixed windows you find on the crew or passenger versions of the vans. With our 2013 NVC3 Sportsmobile, the windows used in the rear quarters that allow to open and ventilate are slightly smaller then the full sized windows that are found from the factory. With the factory window setup, the windows expand all the way out to the body creases and design lines as well as blending seamlessly with the windows in the middle of the van and slider.
So… we decided to cure that with a little visual smoke and mirrors.
Here’s a little before and after we added a black wrap to the outer area around the rear windows, filling in the area that would be used for a full window on OEM passenger vans.
