Tools: Alternator Repair
So you find yourself 100 miles from a gas station and 200 miles from a repair shop and your alternator sh!t the bed. If you have a lot of charging and a heavy load on your alternator, this might (will) happen to you.
We found an elegant solution to packing something that isn’t just a one trick pony and not to bulky either. First you need a T55 to get the Alternator on and off. This low profile T55 bit on Amazon fits the bill without being too large to fit in the space to be used as an alternator belt tensioning tool. It’s also a nice alternative compared to the expensive and bespoke on from Mercedes (part # 270589000700) which are about $170. There are alternative tools on Amazon for way cheaper.
Just didn’t want a tool that would only do one thing. in case of an emergency since it takes up so little space in the toolbox. It fits inside an 11 mm long handle ratcheting wrench that’s good to pack as a tool.
