VanCompass Rock Sliders
As you may have figured out. If you have a Sprinter Van it can be a challenge to get in and out of it if you vertically challenged. If you get a large tires, a lift, a 4x4 or all of the above then even tall folks have to really reach to climb inside. Now side steps are nothing new. Even Mercedes Benz has retractable ones you can get. Or these cool aftermarket ones that hide away from AMP Research and have them custom installed. Van Compass™ Rocker Guards created a 4" wide step to make getting in and out of the van more convenient. If you have a 4x4 or a lifted Sprinter then you know it’s a pain in the but getting in and out. So some kind of step is almost mandatory.
VanCompass created a super robust 3-in-1 design
By creating an offering around a step for van ingress, the construction allows from it to also act as body protection along the entire lenth of the rocker panels sill as well as provide vehicle lifting points for on and off-road recovery. The overall profile was also designed for maximum strength against rocks as well as ground clearance to get you over some high points.
Burley 3/16” thick!
Frame mounts are constructed from 3/16" steel and are attached in three locations to the vehicle's chassis. The front and rear vehicle lift points have integrated Hi-Lift jack slots to make off-road recovery or flat tire changes go safely.
Laser cut for a perfect fit
The main steps are constructed from 1/8" steel. They are attached to the pinch seam with stainless steel hardware.
Houston, we have a problem
We got our kit direct from VC and found our mounts and running boards did not fit. Shows are the three bolt holes where two of them (circled) were completely blocked. If this happens, DO NOT DRILL new holes. A quick call to Mark confirmed we were accidentally send the 170 wheelbase van kit and the mounting holes are different. The boys at VC overnighted us the correct part from Idaho and the new part was a perfect fit. It was really impressive customer service. 🙌
Helpful Hint
We use airjacks to lift the entire board in place to keep everything lined up and ready for drilling and bolting in place. Oh yeah, a lift helps instead of doing it on the ground. We can help you with your install. Schedule an appointment.
Make room!
Another tip. Make room for moving your mudflaps. Either now or in the future you will want larger tires. To do this you need to move your fenders to prevent rubbing for 265 or larger tires. This is what it looked like on the passenger side of our 2500 4x4 VS30 before we moved that mudflap backwards.
Functional step without being large and clunky
Clears oversized tires (VanCompass ladder attached)
Thin in profile, big in protection
