Ran into a rare (in the US) optioned out Sprinter. Before the OEM 4x4 was available in the US, you had to literally ship your van back to Germany and have someone like Oberaigner 4x4 https://www.oberaigner.com/en/drive-systems/axle-modules-with-independent-suspension

Do the conversion, and then ship it back to the US.
