T1N Eberspacher pre-heater
So what is this thing???
What is it?:
It’s a three parts set up. A diesel hydronic heater. A water pump. A diesel fuel pump. It’s intended to warm up and cycle the coolant to warm up the engine block in cold temps. It also will warm up the cabin without starting then Sprinters engine.
How it works:
Turn your ignition on, but don't start the engine, then press the button, hopefully 🤞 if you haven’t started it in a long time you'll get a puff of white smoke from behind the passenger headlight and the Eberspacher Hydronic diesel heater will burst into life 🤞 If you turn on the heater blower and leave it on speed 3, the Eberspacher will warm up, then hit low power mode, it will quieten down and maintain temperature, ticking over. If you don't turn the blower on the hydronic heater will warm up the engines coolant to 70/80F degrees (I think it is) then it will shut off. If you turn the blower on speed 4 it will continue to run flat out. I think they were all Eberspacher D (4or5) WZ type heaters. We don't think the Sprinters ever were spec’d with a Webasto but we might be wrong.
